Creative:
The original design concept called for individual outputs from each of the two, three level high pick modules, which would in turn feed a merge prior to the shipping sorter, a typical arrangement. Our discussion of the actual picking operation indicated that we could use a single line feeding the sorter from the pick modules, combining the three levels from both modules into a single takeaway line efficiently. Our experience with pivoting belt conveyor designs, led to the "Flying Bridge", as Zotos personnel soon coined it.
Worldsource created a 3D computer simulation of the "flying bridge"
concept that was presented to Zotos management for their approval.
Benefit:
The savings associated with using a single take away system to feed the sorter rather than having multiple dedicated lines, allowed them to proceed with the project within their budget, without sacrificing the operational requirements. All this while increasing system reliability. Worldsource further saved costs by reconfiguring their existing two level high picking modules into a single three level high module, and utilizing new and existing components, creating a second three level high module.
Equipment:
The World Source system also includes:
- Worldsource's PTMS (Product Tracking and Management Software), which drives the shipping sorter process.
- 60 cartons per minute, 6 station Flat Face Arm Sorter diverting to the palletizing downlines.
- Omni directional scanning system to determine the proper sortation destination.
- Interlake Selective Racking System.
- World Source "custom engineered" Pick Modules and conveyor support structure to best fit their building and provide personnel and fork truck access for easy replenishment.
Summary:
Worldsource's commitment to understanding the customer's business, employment of creative solutions, combined with efficient project management, solid performance and service, won us another satisfied customer.
